Biography
His first TV appearance was at the age of 12 starring in a McDonald’s commercial. It was during these two days on the set at this very young age that he discovered his passion for the film industry in general and acting in particular.
Edgar attended the Waldorf school in Leiden (The Netherlands) to further exploit his acting talent. He played roles in school plays such as Shakespeare’s ‘Winter’s Tale’ and Goethe’s ‘Faust’, appeared in more television commercials and had guest-starring roles in Dutch series.
His first major acting break came in 1996 when he played Pieter Hardebol in the daily soap series ‘Goudkust’. It was this breakthrough at the age of 17 that made the actor a teenage soap star. After playing a leading role for almost 3 years, Edgar decided to quit his job on the series and focus on furthering his education. Just before going to the USA to attend the Hollywood Acting Workshop, Edgar obtained his first motion picture role in a Dutch independent film called ‘Het Glinsterend Pantser' by director Maarten Treurniet.
After finishing his education in California, Edgar returned to the Netherlands where he soon started to develop a new interest in the film industry. He attended the Open Studio of Amsterdam to focus on directing. In 2001 he was an Assistant to the Director on the multiple award winning film ‘Emergency Exit’. In the same year, he started up his own production company called ‘Starsound Productions’. Although Edgar was focusing on his career, behind the scenes he made an unexpected comeback on the screen. After his role in the Dutch soap series ‘Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden, he became one of the main characters of the very successful teenage movie ‘Volle Maan’ and the hit series ‘Costa!’. Following a leading role in the first photo soap series 'Jong Zuid' initiated by MSN, and a guest appearance in the series ‘Bon Bini Beach’, he started to focus more on directing and producing.
Currently, Edgar is still successfully managing his own production company, Starsound Productions.
